Gucci made a huge statement in New York City with its Cruise 2027 runway show, taking over Times Square for a major fashion event called “GucciCore.”

The show marked a return to New York roots for the luxury brand, more than 70 years after Gucci opened its first international boutique in the city. Under creative director Demna, the famous Manhattan plaza was transformed into a massive runway filled with digital billboards, flashing visuals, and a collection inspired by the people and fashion culture of New York.

The collection focused on everyday city style, mixing luxury pieces with outfits inspired by different parts of New York. Models walked the runway wearing looks influenced by Wall Street professionals, downtown skaters, SoHo street fashion, and uptown luxury culture.

Before the runway presentation even started, Times Square screens displayed fictional Gucci lifestyle brands like “Gucci Gym,” “Gucci Pets,” and a fake “Palazzo Gucci” hotel, showing Demna’s idea of Gucci as a full lifestyle universe rather than just a fashion label.

The clothing itself combined practical streetwear with high-end luxury details. Signature Gucci elements like the famous Web stripe and Horsebit hardware appeared in new modern designs, while oversized coats, relaxed denim, leather accessories, and statement boots gave the collection a stylish but wearable feel.

The show also featured luxury craftsmanship, including sequined textures, feather embroidery, and detailed leather pieces mixed with more casual everyday fashion items.

Several celebrities attended or participated in the event, including Paris Hilton and Candice Swanepoel. Former NFL star Tom Brady became one of the biggest talking points after appearing in a bold all-leather outfit that quickly gained attention online.

With “GucciCore,” Demna appears to be building a long-term vision for Gucci focused on wearable fashion, city culture, and personal identity rather than short-term trends. The collection was presented as a celebration of New York’s diversity, creativity, and unique street style energy.
