Deezer has launched a new AI detection tool designed to help users identify songs generated by artificial intelligence across major music streaming platforms. The company says the tool is aimed at improving transparency in music streaming as AI-generated content continues to increase rapidly.

The new feature allows users to scan playlists from services like Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Once a playlist is imported, Deezer’s system analyzes the tracks and highlights any that appear to be AI-generated. Users are then shown a breakdown of the results, including which songs are flagged, and can share the findings if they choose.

According to Deezer, the tool supports 27 languages and works with playlists from 20 major streaming platforms. It is available for free through Deezer’s website, where users simply select their streaming service and grant access to their playlists for scanning.

The company has positioned itself as one of the most active critics of AI-generated music in the industry. Unlike platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, which primarily label AI-generated content, Deezer goes further by removing such tracks from algorithmic recommendations and excluding them from editorial playlists.

Deezer has also started offering its detection technology to other platforms, suggesting it wants to expand its influence beyond its own service. This comes as the company considers stronger actions in the future, including updating supplier policies or potentially removing AI-generated content entirely, similar to steps recently taken by Bandcamp.

The announcement arrives alongside concerning new figures from Deezer showing that AI-generated music now makes up around 44% of all new uploads on its platform. The company says it is currently receiving about 75,000 AI-generated tracks every day, which adds up to more than two million per month.

Despite this surge in uploads, Deezer reports that AI music still accounts for only 1% to 3% of total listening activity. However, a large portion of streams tied to AI tracks are flagged as fraudulent, with about 85% being demonetized due to suspected manipulation.

As AI continues to reshape the music industry, Deezer’s latest tool highlights growing concerns over authenticity, copyright use, and how streaming platforms will manage synthetic content in the future.
