Baltic and SpaceOne have joined forces to create a new watch called the Seconde Majeure, combining traditional watchmaking with a modern futuristic style.
The project was developed through a long friendship between Baltic founder Etienne Malec, SpaceOne founder Guillaume Laidet, and watchmaker Théo Auffret. Instead of using a standard watch case, the team designed a completely new 38.5mm stainless steel case made from durable 904L steel. The watch also features a polished bezel, curved lugs for comfort, and a beige Alcantara strap made by Delugs.

One of the standout features of the watch is its unusual way of displaying time. The Seconde Majeure uses a jumping-hour system created by Théo Auffret, with the hours shown at the top of the dial and the minutes at the bottom through sapphire discs. A large center seconds hand continuously moves across the dial, adding motion to the minimalist design.

The dial itself is made from a single piece of maillechort metal and comes in two versions: a brushed finish and a hand-finished “Charbonné” version made in Auffret’s workshop. Inside the watch is a Soprod automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve.
The Seconde Majeure will be available for pre-order from May 12 to May 17, 2026, through the Baltic and SpaceOne websites, with deliveries expected to begin in November. The brushed version starts at €2,500, while the hand-finished Charbonné edition costs €3,500 before taxes.
