Apple’s iOS 27 update brings a broad collection of improvements across its ecosystem, extending far beyond the headline AI features shown at WWDC. The company has focused on making everyday tasks smoother and more intelligent, from splitting bills and sharing locations to improving travel tools, entertainment experiences, and health features. Many of the upgrades are designed to strengthen how users interact with Apple’s built-in apps, while also making services more competitive against rival platforms.
Below is a breakdown of the key changes across major Apple apps and services.
Apple Maps

Apple has upgraded its Maps experience with a refreshed “Flyover” feature, offering more realistic 3D views of cities and landmarks with smoother movement and clearer detail. The company says this makes exploring places virtually more immersive than before.
It has also introduced “Local Lists,” a feature that highlights trending places such as restaurants, attractions, and popular spots. Apple appears to be aiming to make Maps more competitive by encouraging users to rely less on third-party discovery apps like Google Maps and social platforms.
Find My

Find My is getting more flexible location-sharing options. Users will now be able to share their location for specific time periods, whether that’s minutes, hours, days, or up to a chosen date and time.
Apple is also adding a temporary pause option for sharing location with individual contacts, lasting until the end of the day. The feature is designed for situations where users want privacy, such as planning surprises or short-term breaks in sharing.
Apple Wallet

Apple Wallet is receiving one of its biggest upgrades in iOS 27. Users will be able to scan receipts using their iPhone camera and automatically split bills with friends through Apple Cash. The system can identify items on a receipt and calculate fair shares, including tax and tips, before sending payment requests.
Wallet also now supports digitizing physical membership and loyalty cards by scanning barcodes or digital passes. These can also sync to Apple Watch for faster access through the Smart Stack.
Travel features are expanding too, with hotel keys now offering more than room access. Guests at participating hotels will also see trip details, schedules, and real-time updates directly inside Wallet.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay is being redesigned for smoother checkout experiences in apps and online stores. Users will be able to swipe between cards more easily while viewing rewards balances, account details, and pay-later options in one place.
Later this year, users will also be able to add funds directly to eligible debit cards through Wallet during checkout. For businesses, Apple is expanding Tap to Pay with a new feature called “Tap to Share,” allowing customers to securely share details like shipping info and loyalty accounts with a simple tap.
Apple Music

Apple Music is improving global accessibility with expanded Lyrics Translation support across seven additional language pairings, including English translations for songs in French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, and Japanese.
A new Lyrics Pronunciation feature will also help users sing along to songs in unfamiliar languages by displaying phonetic guides.
The AutoMix feature, which smooths transitions between songs, is being upgraded and extended to Apple TV and HomePod. Apple Music is also adding Hi-Res Lossless Audio support on Apple TV 4K for higher-quality listening on compatible systems.
Apple Podcasts
Podcasts are becoming easier to explore with a new “search within show” feature that lets users search for specific topics inside individual podcast episodes across Apple devices and the web.
Apple is also expanding video podcast support to Mac and Apple TV, reflecting the growing shift toward video-based podcast content.
iCloud Shared Albums

Shared Albums are getting more interactive and flexible. Users will now be able to share full-resolution images, add emoji reactions, and track activity within each album.
Apple is also introducing temporary albums designed for short-term collaboration on events or projects, which won’t permanently take up iCloud storage.
Importantly, non-Apple users will now be able to contribute photos through the web, making sharing more inclusive.
Fitness+
Apple Fitness+ is launching a new program called “Strong Through Menopause,” a three-week series focused on strength, mobility, balance, and stress management through guided workouts.
A new “Time to Walk” episode will also feature actor Busy Philipps, who shares personal reflections on her experience with perimenopause.
All iOS 27 features are currently available for testing through the Apple Developer Program, with a public beta expected next month.
