Konami and Screen Burn Interactive have officially confirmed that Silent Hill: Townfall will launch on September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC, marking the next major release in the long-running horror franchise.
This new entry continues Konami’s recent revival of the series, following the Silent Hill 2 remake in 2024 and Silent Hill: f in 2025. With Townfall, the franchise shifts toward a more personal and grounded style of horror while still keeping its signature psychological tension and disturbing atmosphere.
The story follows Simon Ordell, who returns to the remote Scottish island of St. Amelia in 1996. The island is covered in thick fog and appears abandoned, but something unsettling lingers beneath its silence. As Simon investigates, he begins uncovering dark secrets tied to the island’s past and the strange events happening around him.
Gameplay focuses heavily on exploration, survival, and psychological fear. Players will need to navigate dangerous environments while avoiding or confronting hostile creatures that stalk the island. Combat exists, but survival often depends more on stealth and careful movement than direct confrontation.
A key gameplay tool is a portable device called the CRTV, a modified pocket television used to pick up unstable signals. These signals reveal clues, hidden paths, and fragments of memory connected to the island’s mystery. This mechanic plays a major role in both exploration and puzzle-solving.
The game also introduces new characters, including Zoe, a local nurse who becomes involved in Simon’s investigation and raises further questions about the island’s secrets.
On PlayStation 5, the experience is enhanced through immersive features. The DualSense controller uses haptic feedback to simulate footsteps, environmental tension, and approaching threats. Adaptive triggers add resistance during combat, making weapon use feel heavier and more realistic, while motion controls allow players to fine-tune the CRTV’s signal by physically adjusting the controller.
Pre-orders will include bonus content such as cosmetic skins for the CRTV, including rusted and beach-themed designs. A Deluxe Edition offers additional content, including an alternate outfit for Simon, a digital soundtrack, an interactive artbook, and 48-hour early access.
With its combination of psychological horror, survival mechanics, and experimental storytelling, Silent Hill: Townfall is positioned as a fresh but unsettling new direction for the franchise when it arrives this September.
