Olivia Rodrigo has officially taken over the top of the Billboard 200, ending Drake’s four-week hold on the chart with her latest release. Her third studio album, titled you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, entered at No. 1 with 485,000 equivalent album units in the United States for the week ending June 18, marking the biggest opening week of 2026 for any solo artist.
The project, released on June 12 through Geffen Records, immediately pushed Drake’s Iceman down to No. 2. His album recorded 105,000 units in its fifth week, reflecting a 21 percent drop from the previous week as Rodrigo’s release dominated both sales and streaming performance.
Rodrigo’s opening total not only surpasses her personal best but also overtakes Iceman, which had previously held the year’s strongest debut with 463,000 units. Early industry projections estimated around 470,000 units for Rodrigo, but the final tally exceeded expectations once all sales and streaming data were compiled.
A major driver of the debut came from physical sales, where the album moved 273,000 copies. This marks the strongest sales week of her career and the highest for any female artist in 2026 so far. The surge was fueled by more than 15 physical editions, including multiple signed releases. Vinyl contributed 164,000 copies alone, setting a new personal record for Rodrigo in that format.
Streaming also played a major role in the album’s performance, contributing 211,000 SEA units from roughly 218.41 million on-demand streams. This became the biggest streaming week of 2026 for a female artist. The album also topped both the Top Album Sales and Top Streaming Albums charts simultaneously, reinforcing its cross-platform success.
Internationally, the project delivered equally strong results. In the United Kingdom, it debuted at No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart with 103,000 units, making it the strongest opening for an international release in the region this year. It more than doubled the first-week figures of her previous albums, Sour and Guts. In Australia, the album also debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart, with all 13 tracks landing inside the top 30 simultaneously.
Rodrigo acknowledged the milestone in a statement, saying, "Thank you so much for this Number 1 album award. I wrote so many of these songs in the U.K., so it makes it extra special. Thank you all for listening. I appreciate it so much. I can't wait to put this on my mantle!"
The achievement continues a steady upward trend in her debut-week performance. Sour opened with 295,000 units in 2021, Guts followed with 302,000 in 2023, and her latest release now reaches 485,000, marking her biggest first week yet.
With the album’s release, Rodrigo is now preparing for The Unraveled Tour, set to begin on September 25 in Hartford and currently scheduled through May 10, 2027, in London.
