Nicki Minaj is sharing her thoughts on one of the music industry's most talked-about conspiracy theories while opening up about the challenges she has faced throughout her career.

During a recent appearance on The Bryce Crawford Podcast, the rapper was asked whether she believes the Illuminati is real. While Minaj stopped short of confirming the existence of a secret organization, she said she believes there are powerful individuals who have made her path in the industry far more difficult than it should have been.

“My situation, I feel like it's very personal,” Minaj said. “I feel that there definitely is a group of people that have made things very difficult for me, but I don't know if they're Illuminati. I don't know what they are.”

The Grammy-nominated artist explained that she has generally viewed these experiences as the actions of specific people rather than a coordinated secret society. However, she admitted that she cannot completely rule out the possibility.

“I never looked at it as if it was like an entire secret society against me. But who knows, you know? It could be,” Minaj added. “Now, what they call themselves and what they proclaim to be? Only they could tell you that. But has it been a spiritual warfare? Absolutely.”

The 42-year-old rapper reflected on the early stages of her career, describing a time when she believed the music business was a place where artists genuinely supported one another and celebrated each other's success.

"In the beginning it was a lot of fun," she said. "I thought everyone just roots for each other and really wants each other to win."

According to Minaj, that outlook changed as she gained more experience in the industry. She said she began noticing what she viewed as territorial behavior from influential figures who wanted control over opportunities, business relationships, and financial success.

“I started realizing people are really vindictive in this industry,” she said. “I started realizing that if you don't get money with one person or a specific people, they don't want you to get money at all. And that's when I started realizing like, ‘Oh my gosh. What did I sign up for?’ because I didn't know that these people would be so territorial over people that they don't even know [and] that they don't have any claims to.”

Minaj went on to explain that she felt some people treated artists as assets rather than individuals, attempting to influence their careers and business decisions.

“It started feeling like everyone wanted to stake their claim into human beings like they were property, and if you didn't abide by their rules or put money in their pocket, they would actively try to stop you from making money to feed your family from prospering in the industry that you love. That's when a different light bulb went off in my head.”

The rapper also spoke about how these experiences changed her understanding of the entertainment industry. She said she initially viewed success as being based primarily on talent, hard work, and creativity, but later realized there were other battles happening behind the scenes.

According to Minaj, many of those struggles felt deeper than professional competition and became what she describes as a spiritual battle.

"It was like constant spiritual warfare," she said. “I wish I would have known sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I bought a knife to a gunfight without having that information. I feel like I was ill-equipped for what was ahead and no one had given me a heads up, and I had to figure it out when I got there.”

The comments have sparked widespread discussion online, with fans debating her views on industry power structures, personal experiences, and the long-running rumors surrounding secret influence within the entertainment world. While Minaj did not claim to have evidence of the Illuminati's existence, she made it clear that she believes unseen forces and powerful individuals have played a role in shaping her journey through the music business.
