Naomi Osaka made a bold fashion statement at the French Open, turning her arrival at Roland-Garros into a runway-style moment before even stepping onto the court.

Before her first-round match against Laura Siegemund, Osaka arrived in a custom black couture outfit designed with Swiss designer Kevin Germanier. The look featured a beaded corset-style top and a flowing pleated skirt made from recycled pieces of her past tennis gear, creating a dramatic pre-match entrance.

Once it was time to play, she removed the outer layer to reveal a shimmering gold Nike tennis dress covered in reflective sequins designed to shine under the Paris sun. The transformation quickly went viral, adding to her reputation for blending sport with high fashion.

Osaka said the inspiration was intentional, comparing the sparkling gold look to the Eiffel Tower at night, describing it as “very couture” and glowing in the light.

Designer Kevin Germanier aimed to balance elegance with performance, calling the outfit “romantic yet strong,” while still making sure it worked for competitive tennis.

This is not the first time Osaka has used major tournaments as a fashion stage. At the Australian Open earlier in the year, she arrived in a dramatic outfit inspired by jellyfish, complete with flowing layers and a veil-like design.

She later made another appearance at the Met Gala, continuing a series of standout fashion moments throughout the season.

Osaka has previously said she uses clothing as a form of expression on court, explaining that fashion allows her to “speak” even when she is not talking.
