Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about the intense criticism she has received since becoming a mother, describing the experience as far more hostile than she expected.
During a June 11 appearance on the Not Gonna Lie podcast hosted by Kylie Kelce, the Stranger Things star spoke honestly about the backlash she has faced online after adopting a baby girl with her husband, Jake Bongiovi.
Brown said the comments she has seen on social media have often been extremely harsh, especially from people criticizing her parenting style.
"I was like, 'This is vicious. You are vicious,'" Brown said around the 49-minute mark of the interview. "And I don't have time for angry women that just need to feel like they need to bring you down, especially when it comes to motherhood. I've never experienced anything like this."
The actress explained that she initially believed most of the criticism was coming from men online, but later discovered that many of the comments were actually from women.
"I was always like, 'Oh my god, these are all men saying all of these horrible things,'" she said. "And then one day I figured out, actually quite a few of them were women."
Brown and Bongiovi announced the adoption of their daughter in August 2025 through a joint Instagram post, describing the moment as the start of a “beautiful new chapter” in their lives as parents.
"We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the couple wrote at the time. They have chosen not to publicly reveal their daughter’s name.
The actress also addressed specific online criticism about her parenting decisions, including comments about her not dressing her child warmly enough in certain situations, such as not putting a hat on her.
Brown pushed back strongly against those remarks, telling critics to stop interfering in her personal life.
“Just stay in your own lane. Put a hat on your baby and put a sock in your mouth,” she said. “I’m just like, shut up.”
She also defended her husband against online speculation after a photo circulated showing her carrying a car seat and multiple bags, which led some users to accuse him of not helping.
"Nobody knows my husband," Brown said. "My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I'm capable.”
Brown’s comments highlight the broader issue of online scrutiny faced by public figures, especially young mothers, as she calls for more understanding and less judgment from strangers on social media.
