Lewis Hamilton has made it clear he is not preparing to leave Formula 1 anytime soon, pushing back against recent retirement speculation ahead of the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix. Now in his second season with Ferrari, he reaffirmed that his current contract keeps him in the sport at least until the end of 2027, with no plans to step away early.

The British driver said he is already thinking about the next stages of his career and remains fully committed to racing at the highest level. His move to Ferrari in 2025 was one of the biggest shifts in modern F1, ending a long and successful run with Mercedes.

So far, the transition has come with challenges as he adapts to a new car and team structure. Despite that, he has shown strong moments during the 2026 season, including a podium finish in China that highlighted his ability to compete at the front when conditions suit.

In the championship standings, Hamilton sits in fifth place, close in points to Lando Norris and behind teammate Charles Leclerc. While the gap to the leaders remains, Ferrari continues working on upgrades to improve consistency and pace.

Hamilton also pointed to drivers like Fernando Alonso as proof that top-level F1 careers can last much longer than expected. He stressed that his motivation and love for racing remain strong, even under the pressure of a demanding calendar and constant travel.

With his future now settled publicly, Hamilton says his attention is fully on performance and helping Ferrari close the gap to the front of the grid as the sport approaches major regulation changes.
