Jake Paul has revealed that his boxing future is uncertain as he continues recovering from injuries suffered during his defeat to Anthony Joshua last December.
Paul suffered a brutal sixth-round knockout loss to Joshua in Miami, leaving him with a broken jaw in two places. The injury was serious enough to require surgery, including the insertion of two titanium plates and the removal of several teeth.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul explained that he is still waiting for doctors to fully clear him before he can return to sparring or make any decisions about fighting again.
He said he is continuing to train lightly and stay active in the gym but admitted there is a real possibility that he may never return to boxing depending on how his jaw heals.
Paul also revealed that he may need a dental implant because of a missing tooth, which could extend his recovery timeline even further.
Before facing Joshua, Paul mainly fought former MMA fighters and older boxers. The fight against the former heavyweight champion was seen as the biggest challenge of his career, especially since Joshua competed at heavyweight while Paul usually fought at cruiserweight.
Joshua dominated the match, knocking Paul down twice before ending the fight with a powerful right hand in the sixth round.
