Conan O’Brien will once again host the Academy Awards in 2027, extending his run to three consecutive years at the helm of Hollywood’s biggest night. The 99th Oscars are scheduled for March 14, 2027, and will air live on ABC and Hulu.
The Academy has also confirmed the return of its core production leadership team. Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will serve as executive producers for a fourth straight year, while Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney return as producers, continuing a creative group that has shaped the show’s recent direction.
Academy leadership said the team has successfully delivered shows that balance entertainment with emotional moments, helping refresh the ceremony for modern audiences while maintaining its traditional prestige. They credited O’Brien’s hosting style as a key factor in strengthening audience engagement and making the broadcast more dynamic.
O’Brien’s involvement has become one of the most consistent elements of the modern Oscars era. Known for his sharp humor and improvisational style, he has helped steer the show through a period where award shows have been under pressure to maintain viewership and cultural relevance. His continued return suggests the Academy sees stability in his presence as it builds toward its 100th ceremony.
The partnership also reflects broader changes behind the scenes at the Oscars. Disney holds broadcast rights through 2028, meaning the next few ceremonies will remain under its umbrella before a planned shift in distribution. After that transition, the awards are expected to move toward new platforms, marking another significant evolution for the long-running event.
