Paramount Games Studio has officially announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, revealing the project during Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles.
The game marks the first major title from the new Paramount-Skydance in-house studio and is being developed by PlatinumGames, with Paramount serving as publisher.
Based on the popular comic series, the game is described as a AAA action-adventure experience set in a darker TMNT universe. The story follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle as he sets out on a violent and emotional mission for revenge in a world that has fallen apart.
While no release date has been confirmed yet, the game is expected to launch on both consoles and PC.
The announcement trailer shown at Summer Game Fest gave fans a first look at the game’s tone, teasing a more serious and mature direction compared to previous TMNT titles.
Alongside the game reveal, Paramount also announced a limited-edition merchandise line created in collaboration with artist BossLogic. The collection will include themed apparel and collectible poster artwork inspired by The Last Ronin.
To further build anticipation, a new 10-page comic preview titled The Last Ronin: Training Day will be released on July 9. Written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, the story serves as a prequel set between issues #3 and #4 of the original comic series.
The prequel focuses on Michelangelo during a 24-hour training period where he prepares Casey Marie Jones, the daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones, for what lies ahead.
With a new game, fresh comic content, and expanded storytelling, The Last Ronin is being positioned as a major next chapter in the TMNT franchise.
