SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially shown a new trailer for Stranger Than Heaven during Summer Game Fest 2026, revealing fresh details about the upcoming action game set in Japan’s criminal underworld.

One of the biggest surprises is the introduction of a character named Amaru, who is modeled after late rap icon Tupac Shakur. The character appears in a cinematic reveal that immediately stood out as one of the event’s most talked about moments.

According to the developers, Tupac’s likeness was created with official approval from his estate through Amaru Entertainment. The team explained that the design was built using archival footage and photographs, with no use of AI generation involved in the recreation.

The project also had cultural input from Snoop Dogg, who appears in the game as well and helped connect the developers with Tupac’s estate. His involvement added extra authenticity and weight to the collaboration, especially given his long-standing relationship with Tupac’s legacy.

Beyond the headline reveal, Stranger Than Heaven continues to position itself as a large-scale narrative experience from RGG Studio, known for the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series. The game blends multiple time periods in Japan, combining historical storytelling with modern criminal underworld themes.

The cast already includes several notable names such as Snoop Dogg, Dean Fujioka, and Tori Kelly, reinforcing the game’s mix of global pop culture and cinematic storytelling.

Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to launch worldwide on January 15, 2027, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with pre-orders and wishlisting now available.
