Prime Video is keeping Jack Reacher on the case for another season, renewing the popular action series for Season 6 before the upcoming fifth season has even premiered.
The renewal comes as the show continues to perform strongly for Amazon. Alan Ritchson stars as Jack Reacher, the former military investigator who travels from place to place and often finds himself caught in dangerous situations.
Since its debut in 2022, Reacher has become one of Prime Video’s most successful original series. The latest numbers from Amazon show that the audience for the series continues to grow with each new season.
Amazon says Season 4 attracted 66 million viewers around the world within its first 28 days after launching on August 12. The eight-episode season concluded with its finale on September 16.
According to Amazon, Season 4 now ranks among the five most-watched seasons of any original series released on Prime Video. Across all four seasons, Reacher has reached 200 million viewers globally.
The continued success has also helped expand the franchise beyond the main series. Prime Video recently introduced the first season of the Reacher spinoff Neagley, which stars Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, one of the characters from the original series.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, praised the series and the people responsible for bringing it to the screen.
“‘Reacher’ hits hard,” said Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios. “What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world. Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six.”
The fourth season was based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow. The story followed Reacher after a chance encounter with a distressed stranger on a subway pulls him into a dangerous situation involving a larger conspiracy.
Season 4 featured Ritchson alongside Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson.
Attention now shifts to Season 5, which is already in production in Toronto. The upcoming season will adapt Child’s novel Make Me, another story from the long-running Jack Reacher book series.
The fifth season will continue following Reacher as he becomes involved in another dangerous mystery, with Ritchson once again returning in the lead role.
Reacher is based on Child’s bestselling novels and has been developed for television by Nick Santora, who serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Child and Ritchson are also executive producers, alongside Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen.
Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid serve as executives-in-charge of the series for Paramount Television Studios. Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios are behind the production.
With Season 5 still being filmed and Season 6 already ordered, the series has secured a longer future on Prime Video. The latest renewal also gives the show's creative team more room to continue adapting Child’s extensive collection of Reacher novels for television.
For fans of the series, the announcement means the story of Jack Reacher will continue well beyond the upcoming fifth season, with Ritchson remaining at the center of one of Prime Video’s biggest franchises.
