Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to leave Manchester City this summer after spending 10 years at the club.
According to reports, Guardiola has decided to end his time at City earlier than expected, despite previously signing a contract extension that would have kept him at the club until 2027. An official announcement is expected after Manchester City’s final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa.
The reported exit would close one of the most successful periods ever seen in English football. Since arriving in 2016, Guardiola has transformed Manchester City into one of the world’s strongest football teams, winning numerous domestic and international trophies.
During his time at the club, Guardiola helped City dominate English football with multiple Premier League titles, domestic cup victories, and the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy. His most recent success came after winning the FA Cup against Chelsea FC, adding another major title to his collection.
Guardiola is widely credited with changing the style of football in England through his possession-based tactics, fast passing systems, and innovative player roles. His influence has shaped not only Manchester City but also many other clubs and coaches around the world.
Reports also suggest that Enzo Maresca is the leading candidate to replace Guardiola. Maresca previously worked under him at Manchester City before going on to manage other clubs successfully, including guiding Leicester City to promotion and later achieving success with Chelsea.
Manchester City supporters are now preparing for what could become an emotional farewell to one of the greatest managers in football history. If confirmed, Guardiola’s departure would mark the end of an era that completely changed the club’s global status and football identity.
