Insomniac Games has confirmed that players will have the option to reduce or completely disable graphic violence in Marvel’s Wolverine, giving users more control over their gameplay experience.

Following the game's major showcase during PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play event, developers revealed that the highly anticipated action title will feature detailed settings that allow players to customize the amount of blood, gore, and violent effects shown on screen. While the game embraces Wolverine’s brutal comic book roots, the studio also wants to ensure that players who prefer a less graphic experience can still enjoy the story.

According to game director Mike Daly, the development team wanted combat to feel powerful and authentic to Wolverine's character, but also recognized that not every player enjoys intense violence. As a result, several customization options have been included to let players tailor the experience to their preferences.

Players can turn off blood splatter effects, disable dismemberment during combat, and reduce the visual impact of injuries. Cutscenes will also feature an optional blur setting that softens graphic moments without removing important story details. Another setting allows users to limit how much of Logan’s wounds and healing process are visible throughout the game.

Beyond gore controls, Marvel’s Wolverine includes one of Insomniac’s most extensive accessibility suites to date. Players can slow down combat speed, enable high-contrast visuals to make enemies easier to identify, activate navigation assistance for objectives, and make use of screen readers and enhanced audio cues. These features are designed to support players with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor accessibility needs.

The game follows Logan as he investigates the capture of a group of mutants by the Reavers, a dangerous cybernetic organization working under industrialist Bolivar Trask. During the mission, Wolverine reunites with Team X and joins forces with Jean Grey as they battle to stop the growing threat.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches worldwide on September 15 exclusively for the PlayStation 5. Players who pre-order the game will receive bonus content, including classic comic-inspired suits and special combat abilities.
