Louis Vuitton is drawing directly from one of its most recognizable symbols, its classic travel trunk, to create a new eyewear collection called LV Heritage Sunglasses. The project is led by Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams, who continues to rework the brand’s historic design language into modern fashion pieces.

The central idea behind the collection is simple but bold: take the iconic metal corner protectors found on Louis Vuitton trunks and rework them into functional design elements for sunglasses. These corner shapes are now built into the frames themselves, turning a piece of luggage history into wearable luxury. The result is a collection that carries more than a century of travel heritage directly into everyday fashion.

The sunglasses first appeared publicly in a high-profile moment when Pharrell wore one of the designs at the Met Gala. That appearance generated immediate attention before the full collection was officially revealed during Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2026 Menswear runway show in Paris on June 24, 2025. The runway presentation focused on themes of travel, chance, and exploration, using a large Snakes and Ladders-inspired set to symbolize life’s unpredictable journey. Within that context, the sunglasses were introduced as practical expressions of Louis Vuitton’s long-standing identity as a travel-focused luxury house.

The LV Heritage Sunglasses collection is built around three distinct frame styles, each offering a different interpretation of the trunk-inspired concept. The first design is a square-shaped frame, similar to the pair worn by Pharrell at the Met Gala. It keeps a classic silhouette while incorporating the signature trunk corner details at key structural points, making the heritage influence visible without overpowering the design.

The second style is a mask-like frame that uses a single continuous lens stretching across the front of the face. This version leans more futuristic, with a frameless top edge that gives it a bold, fashion-forward appearance. It is designed less as a subtle accessory and more as a statement piece that stands out immediately when worn.

The third design is the most detailed and decorative of the three. It features a metal-rimmed square frame with a double nose bridge and a laser-engraved Damier pattern across the upper section. This pattern directly references Louis Vuitton’s famous checkerboard motif, tying the sunglasses back to one of the brand’s most recognizable visual signatures.

Across all three styles, Louis Vuitton has added consistent design elements to unify the collection. The temples feature a metallic Louis Vuitton logo, while the lenses come in a range of soft, sun-faded tones including black, crystal blue, champagne, and gold. These colors are intentionally designed to look slightly worn-in, as if the sunglasses have already traveled the world before reaching the customer.
