Lexus is taking its luxury yacht business beyond Japan for the first time, opening the LY 680 to international customers after initially limiting sales to the Japanese market.

Orders for the yacht began in Japan through Toyota Marine sales offices in March 2024. Starting in September, buyers outside Japan will also be able to place orders for the flagship vessel.
The LY 680 is expected to make one of its biggest international appearances at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, which runs from October 28 through November 1. The event will give potential buyers an opportunity to see Lexus' approach to luxury boating outside its traditional automotive market.
The yacht is an evolution of the Lexus LY 650, the company's first production yacht. With the LY 680, Lexus has increased the vessel's size and added more space for outdoor entertainment and relaxation.

The boat measures 67.7 feet in length and 18.9 feet across, giving it a large footprint on the water. Lexus designed the exterior and developed the interior experience around the same focus on comfort, craftsmanship and premium design associated with its road cars.
One of the biggest changes from the LY 650 is the expanded flybridge. Lexus extended the upper deck by 4.6 feet, creating additional room for a lounge sofa and a barbecue grill.
The rear swimming platform has also been extended by 2.3 feet. The larger platform gives passengers more space to relax close to the water and makes it easier to access the sea while the yacht is anchored.
Inside, the LY 680 has three separate cabins with enough sleeping space for six overnight guests. The yacht can accommodate up to 15 people in total, making it suitable for both private trips and larger gatherings.

Moving a yacht of this size requires considerable power. Lexus equips the LY 680 with two Volvo Penta IPS engines, with buyers able to choose between IPS 1050 and IPS 1350 configurations.
With the IPS 1050 setup, each engine produces 800 horsepower, giving the yacht a combined 1,600 horsepower.
The more powerful IPS 1350 option increases output to 1,000 horsepower per engine, bringing the total to 2,000 horsepower.
The yacht also carries a 1,060-gallon fuel tank and a 225-gallon freshwater tank, allowing it to support longer trips without requiring frequent refueling or water replenishment.
Construction of the LY 680 is handled by Taiwan-based Horizon Group, which builds the vessel using manufacturing techniques influenced by Toyota's production methods.

The approach brings elements of the Toyota Production System into superyacht construction, adapting processes originally developed for automotive manufacturing to the production of large luxury boats.
The LY 680 therefore represents more than Lexus simply placing its badge on a yacht. The project combines the company's design philosophy with specialized marine engineering and Horizon Group's experience in building luxury vessels.
Initial deliveries to Japanese customers were planned for spring 2026, while the September expansion now opens the order book to customers in international markets.
Lexus has not officially announced pricing for overseas customers. However, the flagship yacht has reportedly been priced at around $5 million, placing it firmly within the high-end luxury yacht market.

The international launch also gives Lexus a chance to introduce its marine products to customers who may already be familiar with the brand through its luxury vehicles.
With its larger dimensions, spacious entertainment areas, multiple cabins and up to 2,000 horsepower, the LY 680 marks Lexus' push to establish itself as a luxury name both on the road and on the water.
