Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart are officially teaming up for a new untitled spy comedy film set at Netflix, bringing together two very different screen personalities in one action packed story.
The film follows two elite spies who have no idea they are working against each other in their professional lives. Things take a surprising turn when both men end up attending the same Lamaze class because their wives have become close friends. What starts as an awkward coincidence quickly grows into a complicated situation as their personal and secret professional worlds begin to overlap.
As their double lives begin to collide, the early synopsis describes how their situation spirals into “unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways,” forcing them to deal with both spy missions and upcoming fatherhood at the same time. Neither character can fully escape the other, which pushes them into a reluctant partnership built on tension, competition, and survival.
The project is directed by McG and produced by 21 Laps alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort. The screenplay is written by Adam and Aaron Nee, who recently worked on Masters of the Universe, along with Jonathan Tropper. The story itself is based on a short story by Sean Lewis.
Kevin Hart is also producing through his Hartbeat production company, working alongside Luke Kelly-Clyne and Bryan Smiley. Additional producers include Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Ryan Reynolds, George Dewey, and Patrick Gooing, with Emily Morris serving as executive producer for 21 Laps.
Henry Cavill continues to expand his action film presence, with upcoming roles in Highlander and Voltron, while maintaining a strong relationship with Netflix after starring in The Witcher and the Enola Holmes films.
Kevin Hart also remains a major presence on the platform, having starred in several Netflix films including Lift, Me Time, The Man From Toronto, and Fatherhood. He also recently featured in a Netflix live comedy roast and has another upcoming comedy titled 72 Hours.
The film is still in development, and Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, but anticipation is already building due to the unexpected pairing of Cavill and Hart.
