Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been taken from federal prison for medical treatment after suffering a head injury, raising fresh questions about the music mogul's condition while he serves his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to a report first published by TMZ on October 12, sources at the prison said Combs was transported by ambulance early on Saturday, October 10, after sustaining an unspecified injury to his head. The ambulance reportedly left the facility at approximately 1 a.m. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and there has been no confirmed explanation of how he was injured.
Sources cited in the reports said the injury did not appear to be life-threatening. Combs was reportedly conscious and able to speak when he returned to the prison later that morning, although the precise nature of the medical treatment he received has not been independently established.
When contacted for comment, a spokesperson for Combs said:
“We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances. Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out.”
The same statement was provided to other media outlets reporting on the incident. However, the spokesperson did not disclose what caused the injury or provide further medical details. Until more information becomes available, the circumstances surrounding Combs' reported hospital visit remain uncertain.
The incident comes as Combs continues serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. In October 2025, he was sentenced to more than four years behind bars and fined $500,000. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges brought against him during his federal trial.
Combs' legal troubles began attracting renewed public attention in 2023, when his former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and sex trafficking, among other allegations. The lawsuit was settled shortly after it was filed, without an admission of liability. Its filing was followed by additional allegations from other individuals, many of which Combs has disputed.
His incarceration has also attracted attention because of reports about his treatment inside Fort Dix. In late September 2026, NBC News reported allegations that Combs had access to prohibited items and privileges while in custody. The claims included alleged access to contraband cellphones, which he reportedly used to view social media and sexually explicit photographs, as well as access to alcohol allegedly smuggled into the facility.
Those reports prompted further scrutiny of his prison conditions. Subsequent coverage indicated that Combs faced disciplinary consequences for alleged disruptive conduct and lost 41 days of good-conduct time, pushing back his expected release date. The reports about his alleged privileges have not established any connection between those allegations and his recent head injury.
His expected release date has since been reported as March 2, 2028, following an earlier adjustment to his sentence timeline. The date could be subject to further changes depending on prison records and any additional disciplinary decisions.
Beyond his criminal case, Combs has continued to face legal disputes while incarcerated. Most recently, a New York court ordered him to pay NBCUniversal approximately $477,700 in legal fees after dismissing his $100 million defamation lawsuit against the company over the documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. The ruling represents another financial setback as he continues challenging aspects of the coverage surrounding his life and allegations against him.
Combs has also reportedly explored the possibility of receiving a presidential pardon. In 2025, one of his attorneys, Nicole Westmoreland, confirmed that members of his legal team had contacted representatives of Donald Trump's administration to discuss the possibility.
“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” said attorney Nicole Westmoreland.
The possibility of a pardon attracted further attention after former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson said he remained on friendly terms with Combs and had reached out to Trump on his behalf. However, those reported efforts did not establish that a pardon would be granted.
For now, the immediate concern is Combs' health following the reported incident at Fort Dix. Although the available reports suggest that he was conscious and able to communicate when he returned to the facility, the cause of the injury and the treatment he received remain unconfirmed.
Neither the circumstances that led to the injury nor whether it involved an accident, a fall or another incident has been established publicly. It would therefore be premature to draw conclusions about what happened inside the prison.
The incident adds another development to a period marked by Combs' ongoing incarceration, legal disputes and scrutiny of his treatment behind bars. Further information from his representatives or prison authorities may help clarify the circumstances, but for now, the details surrounding his reported medical emergency remain limited.
