David Beckham has officially become the first British sportsman to reach billionaire status, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.

The former Manchester United star and his wife, Victoria Beckham, now reportedly have a combined net worth of £1.185 billion GBP, which is about $1.57 billion.

A major part of Beckham’s financial success comes from his ownership stake in Inter Miami CF, the American football club he co-owns. The club’s value has grown rapidly in recent years, especially after the arrival of global football superstar Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami has become one of the most valuable clubs in Major League Soccer, helped by strong performances, growing popularity, and major sponsorship deals. The team has also continued investing in young talent and expanding its presence in the United States.

Outside football, Beckham continues to earn huge income through endorsement partnerships with global brands like adidas and Hugo Boss.

Victoria Beckham’s fashion and beauty business has also contributed heavily to the family’s rising fortune after reportedly becoming more profitable in recent years.

Beckham’s business success is widely seen as an example of how modern athletes are building long-term wealth beyond sports. Instead of relying only on salaries and sponsorships, Beckham invested in ownership opportunities and business ventures that continued growing long after his football career ended.

One of his most important business moves was securing the right to purchase an MLS expansion team years ago for a relatively low price, which eventually became Inter Miami. That investment has now grown into one of the biggest success stories in modern sports business.
