The search for the next James Bond has officially started, with Amazon MGM Studios now holding auditions for the role of 007.

The studio has begun testing actors over the past few weeks as it looks for someone to succeed Daniel Craig in the iconic spy role. To help lead the process, it has brought in Nina Gold, a well-known casting director with experience working on major global franchises.

Amazon MGM confirmed the development, saying the casting process is underway but that specific details will not be shared yet. The company added that it will reveal more information when the time is right.

Gold is widely respected in the industry for her work on large ensemble projects. She helped cast Game of Thrones, The Crown, and several Star Wars films, including casting Daisy Ridley as Rey. Her background also includes films like The Martian, Les Misérables, and Conclave.

Previous Bond casting directors helped choose actors like Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton. The role has previously been played by several actors including Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and George Lazenby.

The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune, Arrival, and Sicario. It will also be produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman, with a script from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Even before auditions began, speculation was already strong, with names like Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumored as possible candidates.

Amazon MGM says it is taking its time with the decision, stressing that the goal is to respect the legacy of the franchise while finding the right actor for the next chapter of James Bond.
