Amazon has introduced a new feature for its Alexa+ assistant that can automatically create podcast episodes using artificial intelligence.

The feature, called “Alexa Podcasts,” is now rolling out to users in the United States. It allows people to simply ask Alexa+ for a podcast on any topic, and the system will instantly generate one without requiring scripts, planning, or manual input.

Once a request is made, Alexa+ researches the topic, organizes the information, and builds a short episode outline. Users can then adjust details such as how long the episode should be, the tone of the narration, and how deeply the topic is covered.

After customization, the system generates a fully narrated podcast using AI-created host voices. The finished episode is then sent to the user through their Echo Show device or the Alexa app, where it can also be saved and replayed later in sections like “Music” or “More.”

The update shows how Amazon is expanding Alexa+ beyond a traditional voice assistant. Instead of only answering questions or controlling smart home devices, the platform is now moving toward creating personalized audio content for users.

However, the launch also raises concerns about accuracy and reliability, especially when AI-generated content is used to explain complex or sensitive topics. Questions around transparency and the role of human creators in media production are also expected to grow as the technology spreads.

To address this, Amazon says Alexa+ is supported by partnerships with major news organizations, including Associated Press, Reuters, The Washington Post, and others. These partnerships are meant to improve the accuracy of information used in generated podcasts.

Beyond podcasts, Amazon is also exploring other AI-driven audio tools, including personalized news summaries and content created from user-provided documents.
